The Watertown Free Public Library has plenty of activities and events to choose from this month.

The Library sent out the following information:

SCOTT SANCHEZ – Winter Concert Series

Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m., Watertown Savings Bank Room

An experienced classical guitarist, Scott Sanchez is recognized by audience members, concert presenters, and reviewers for his unique artistry and solid musicianship. He currently teaches guitar and guitar ensemble at Franklin Pierce University. His eclectic repertoire includes music by Manuel Ponce, Astor Piazzola, Agustin Barrios, Joaquin Turina and Dave Brubeck. Come to the library and join us for another passionate and entertaining guitar performance, courtesy of Scott Sanchez.

Tickets are not required.

Cook the Books: Appetizers

Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.

On the 2nd Wednesday of the month, people who like to discuss food and cooking are invited to bring a prepared dish, as well as the cookbook the recipe came from, to share with the group. This will give everyone a chance to sample dishes from an assortment of cookbooks while only having to prepare one. No registration.

Do You Want to Help Someone Learn English?

Next Training Session begins March 2

Project Literacy is accepting volunteer applications for our next session. Our volunteer tutors are fluent in English and are willing to spend two hours a week with adult learners, most of whom are learning or improving their English communication skills.

There is a 5-session, 15-hour pre-service training that meets over the course of five weeks.

The WFPL is proud to welcome the Armenian International Women’s Association (AIWA) as they launch their new book: a translation of Zabel Yessayan’s In the Ruins, a powerful first-hand account of the aftermath of the 1909 massacres in Adana. Please plan to join us!
