Watertown Savings Bank recently announced the promotion of one employee to senior vice president and the hiring of another vice president.

Bank Promotes Longtime Employee to Senior Vice President

Watertown Savings Bank (WSB) President Brett Dean is pleased to announce that Robert A. Kelly has been promoted to Senior Vice President (SVP), Retail Banking.

“Rob has worked for WSB for 17 years, but has been in banking for more than 30 years,” said Dean. “He has skillfully led our branch operations for the past several years. He is service-focused, and I am impressed by his care for the Bank and all Bank staff. He is a terrific advocate for the branch network and the Bank overall. He is very active in the community, as a Watertown resident.”

“In the Bank’s 145 year history, we have had six Senior Vice Presidents. Clearly, it is an important role and a major achievement that reflects many accomplishments.”

Prior to being named SVP, Kelly most recently served as Vice President of Branch Administration. Under the umbrella of Retail Banking, Kelly will continue to oversee Branch Administration, along with the Security, Club 50, and Facilities departments.

Kelly currently serves on the Watertown Community Foundation board and grant committee. He has previously served on the boards of the Watertown Education Foundation as Treasurer for seven years and the Waltham Boy’s & Girl’s Club for five years. In 2012, Kelly was named a Bank Corporator.

Kelly earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Bentley University, where he later earned his MBA in Management as well. He has also earned his Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and graduated with honors from the New England School for Financial Studies. Kelly is originally from and currently resides in Watertown.

Watertown Savings Bank (WSB) Chief Executive Officer Ronald Dean is pleased to announce that Matthew D. DesMeules has joined the bank as Vice President of Loan Servicing and Loan Compliance.

DesMeules comes to the Bank most recently from Morgan Stanley, Private Bank, NA, where he served as a Vice President in their Legal and Compliance Department. Prior to his time at Morgan Stanley, DesMeules worked as a consultant to WSB in his capacity as Compliance Manager for FIS EGRC. In addition, DesMeules served in private practice as an attorney in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire with concentrations in real estate, estate and tax planning, law.

DesMeules earned his Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire; and Juris Doctor from New England School of Law in Boston. As a member of the Boston and New Hampshire Bar Associations, DesMeules has volunteered to perform pro bono legal assistance to American soldiers in need of estate planning documents before active deployment and to low income clients in need of income tax relief.

DesMeules resides with his wife and family in South Hamilton, MA.
