The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
June 30, 11:12 a.m.: A man was stopped after Marshalls security spotted him taking four sets of bedsheets and a shirt. Security watched the man closely because they recognized him from a couple past incidents where they suspect he took merchandise. On the 30th, the man removed security devices from the items and tried to leave without paying. The items were worth $399. The 58-year-old Boston man was arrested on one count of larceny over $250 and two counts of removing security devices.
July 2, 4:42 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Nichols Avenue spotted a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. The vehicle was stopped and the officer found the driver did not have a valid license. The 40-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of unlicensed driving and driving a motor vehicle that does not meet RMV safety standards.
June 27, 10:39 a.m.: A driver parked her 2005 Chevy Malibu on Arsenal Street while she went to work and when she returned she found the glass in the side mirror had been shattered.
June 29, 3:19 p.m.: A metal table and chairs were taken from the public area of the Arsenal Mall near the escalator. The culprit was identified but mall officials decided not to press charges and will handle the matter internally.
June 30, 3:46 p.m.: A woman tried to go through the self-checkout at Target without paying for a large number of items. Security stopped the woman and found she had cleaning supplies, clothing, DVDs and home goods worth a total of $345. The 27-year-old woman from Dorchester was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of larceny over $250.
July 1, 5:07 p.m.: A small amount of orange spray paint was found on a Fuller Road resident’s Nissan Sentra. The paint was mostly on the front, right quarter panel, but it is not clear how it got there.
July 1, 10:51 p.m.: A Civil War buff who puts out a Confederate Flag each year to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg realized the flag was missing from his Sycamore Street home at about 5 p.m. on July 1. At about 10:50 p.m. he heard a knock and found the flag lying on the front porch and someone had spray painted the words “Make America Great Again” on it. The flag is worth $25.
July 3, 5:14 p.m.: A woman went through Target placing items into a large black canvas bag. Security stopped her, and she admitted to taking 12 pieces of clothes worth about $200. The store is considering pressing charges and the woman was trespassed from the store.
July 3, 6:46 p.m.: A woman found a screw in the bottom of a tire of her Nissan Altima while it was parked on Edenfield Road. The woman told police she believes a former friend had put the screw in the tire.
