Got an event, activity, or community festival that needs funding? The Watertown Cultural Council (WCC) is preparing to allocate grants for 2016 and is looking for proposals for community-oriented projects in the arts, humanities, and science. Applications are due Oct. 17, 2016.
Any organization, school, individual, or group may apply for a WCC grant. These grants support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Watertown. Past WCC grant recipients include the Arsenal Center for the Arts, the Historical Society of Watertown, the Belmont World Film Festival, and the Watertown Family Network. Projects include exhibits and public art installations, festivals, public performances, enrichment programming in schools, workshops, lectures, field trips, and more.
The Watertown Cultural Council is part of a network of Local Cultural Councils serving all cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to WCC.
