A Funeral Mass will be held in the Church of St. Patrick, Watertown on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 9 a.m. for Peter Phillip D’Amico.

Peter was a son of the late Franceso and Teresa (Zaccagnini) D’Amico. He passed away Friday morning in South Shore Hospital after a period of declining health. Peter was 85.

He was the beloved husband of the Patricia A. (Collins) D’Amico. The two of them were married for 59 years.

Graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1949, Peter later went on to become the head custodian in Newton Public Schools. He was well known and loved, especially at Newton North High School & the Cabot School. So well known and loved that they named the Cabot School Playground after Peter.

To this day, his memory lives on at the Peter P. D’Amico Playground at the Cabot School in Newton.

Peter was a member of the Elks Club and also served in the United States Army.

Beloved husband of the Patricia A. (Collins). Devoted father of Peter F. D’Amico & his wife Donna of MD, Patricia A. Arone & her husband John of Pembroke, Michael D. D’Amico & his wife Katherine of Billerica, and the late Robert C. D’Amico. Dear brother of Emma Gaeta of West Roxbury, Lorretta Dunn of Burlington, Barbara Howe of Wilmington, & his late twin brother John A. D’Amico. Loving grandfather of Kristin & Peter D’Amico, Alyssa, Andrew, Matthew & Addison Arone, Michael, Daniel, Matthew, & Anthony D’Amico. Loving great-grandfather of Nicholas & Jameson.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 9 a.m. in the Church of St. Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Relatives & friend kindly invited.

Burial in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.

Visiting hours, Wednesday 4-7 p.m.
