The carpets at the Watertown Free Public Library will be replaced beginning Monday, March 13 and installation will continue until Friday, April 7, library officials announced. This four week project will impact access to certain parts of the building. We will remain open for the duration of the project with the exception of Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7 when the library will be closed both days.

During the installation patrons can expect limited access to areas of the building on weekdays from opening at 9 a.m. until around 3 p.m. after which all areas of the library should be accessible. Library staff will do as much as possible to help retrieve materials from any areas that are affected. The most impact to patron use will be Thursday, March 16 and Friday March 17 when the second floor computer area will be inaccessible for the entire period and Wednesday, March, 29 through Friday, March 31 when the children’s room will be closed during installation hours (9am to 3pm).

Each day during the installation the library homepage will have updates of the daily work area. For the full work schedule please visit www.watertownlib.org/carpet.

The library Staff and Trustees thank you for your anticipated patience as we embark on this much needed maintenance project.

  1. The real story here is why does the women’s bathroom have over 2x the number of relief stations compared to the men’s! This is gender discrimination.
