A Funeral Mass will be held in the Church of St. Luke, Belmont on Friday, April 28, 2016 at 9 a.m. for Peter Francis Torilli.

Peter was the son of the late Pasquale & Angeline (Olivieri) Torilli. He passed away Tuesday morning in Watertown after a period of declining health. Peter was 92.

He was the beloved husband of Ann C. (Cabozzi) Torilli. Peter & Ann were married July of 1945. The two of them were happily married for 64 years before Ann’s passing in 2009.

Peter was a graduate of Watertown High School, class of 1942. Peter enlisted in the United States Army on Aug. 5, 1943. He received the rank of Sergeant during his active duty in the Army. He defended our nation with pride and honor during World War II before receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.

He was stationed in West Point, N.Y. were he was a small arms instructor for the United States Army. While enlisted Peter received the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Medal – Germany.

After his service, Peter began his career in the Watertown Fire Department. He was a proud firefighter for the Town of Watertown and was a pillar of the department.

He was the loving husband of the late Ann C. (Cabozzi). Devoted father of Donna M. Powell-Rich & her husband Arthur of Kennebunk, Maine, Peter F. Torilli, Jr. & his wife Cynthia of Southborough, Deborah A. Hubbard & her husband Richard of Osterville, and Lisa A.F. Torilli of Watertown. Dear brother of James Vincent of Watertown, Mary Plummer of Chelmsford, Elizabeth Mancuso of Fla. & the late Annette Minton. Loving grandfather of Tracy, Julie, David, Sarah, Matthew, Richard Jr., Rebecca, Samantha, and the late William. Loving great-grandfather of Emily, Michael & Evan Powell, George & Angelo Moutafis, and Morgan Ann DeStefano.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 9 a.m. in the Church of St. Luke, 132 Lexington St. Belmont. Relatives & friend kindly invited.

Burial in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA on Monday May 1 at 1 p.m.

Visiting hours, Thursday 4-8 p.m..
