Learn about the historic monuments in Mount Auburn Cemetery during a special presentation by the Historical Society of Watertown.

The task of every town’s Historical Commission is to determine what historic resources exist in its community, to advocate for those resources and to make them more available to the community.
In 2013, David Russo, Chairperson of the Watertown Historical Commission, was contacted by the Mass. Historical Commission to follow up on an old inventory done on Mount Auburn Cemetery in the mid-1970s. Soon David realized that there was a bigger project: a complete inventory was needed to identify the significant resources within the Cemetery.
In the end, David document 225 individual resources including monuments, mausoleums, landscapes, buildings and even a bridge within the Cemetery. Come and enjoy a slideshow lecture and hear about the project detailing how David documented this important Watertown cemetery.
David J. Russo is Chairperson of the Watertown Historical Commission and a volunteer for the Historical Society. David served on the Board of the Historical Society from 2010 – 2012 as our Recording Secretary.
