Watertown Sprinter Mange Camara Caps Historic Indoor Season at Nationals

Watertown junior Mange Camara competed against the best high school runners at the New Balance Nationals in New York over the weekend.

Watertown High School’s Mange Camara wrapped up an amazing indoor track season by competing against the top high school runners from across America over on Saturday.The junior competed in the New Balance Indoor Nationals at The Armory in New York City. He ran the 200 meters in 22.10 seconds, which was the 22nd fastest time at the meet and was the best time for Massachusetts runners and runners from New England. See the race video by clicking here (Camara is in the far left lane).

Last week, Camara got second place in the 300 meters at the New England Indoor Championship at Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. He ran a 34.87, which was less than .2 seconds off his best time, which he set when he won the event at the MIAA Div. 5 meet on Feb. 15.

The time of 34.71 is the Watertown High School record. Camara also set the school record in the 55-meter dash at the Div. 5 meet with a time of 6.58 seconds. He placed second in the 55 at the Div. 5 meet and anchored the first place 4 x 400 relay.

At the All-State Meet Camara finished third place in the 300 and eighth in the 55 dash.
