The Massachusetts State Police sent out the following announcement:

Massachusetts State Police are investigating a reported sexual assault committed this afternoon on Greenough Boulevard in Watertown.

A woman, who is in her 20s, reported that she was indecently assaulted by a man at approximately 2:45 p.m. while she was walking along the riverside roadway.

The victim stated that the suspect rushed her from behind, grabbed her, and began to forcibly kiss her. The suspect continued to forcibly kiss the victim even as she told him to stop, tried to push him away, and tried to break free.

At one point during the assault the suspect indecently touched the victim. The victim continually shouted “no” and “stop” during the indecent assault.

During the attack the victim attempted to get the attention of passing cars, but no motorists stopped.

The victim finally was able to break away and ran diagonally across the street toward Grove Street. When she turned up Grove Street she turned around and observed the suspect walking away in the opposite direction.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male who appeared to be in his early 30s, approximately 5-feet-4-inches tall, with dark hair, wearing a navy blue hat, gray T-shirt, and jeans.

We believe that, just before the attack, the suspect was hanging around a dock on the river, west of the playground at Artesani Park. At that time, the suspect was with an older Hispanic male, who appeared to be in his late 50s or early 60s, with black and grey hair and facial hair, wearing a red shirt and holding a multicolored hat. The suspect and the older man were drinking beers out of large cans.

Following the report of the assault Troopers from the State Police-Brighton Barracks searched the bike paths and lots around Artesani Park and Greenough Boulevard but did not locate the suspect or the older man. Troopers also notified surrounding local police departments of the description of the suspect and the second man.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or saw the victim, the suspect, or the older man, is urged to call police. We especially ask anyone who was in the area around Greenough Boulevard, Artesani Park, Grove Street, or the dock near the playground where the suspect and older man were drinking beers to pay particular attention to this request.

Motorists driving on Greenough Boulevard around 2:45 p.m. are asked to recall whether they saw the suspect or victim and, if so, to call us. We also ask that a couple that was walking a Golden Retriever on Greenough Boulevard, in the opposite direction as the victim, attempt to recall whether they saw the suspect and the older man or the victim.

Anyone who remembers seeing the suspect, victim, or the older man, or who has information about the assault, should call 911 or the State Police Brighton Barracks at ‭617-727-4812‬.
