The Watertown boys hockey team has returned to the MIAA Div. 3 state tournament after a three year gap.

The Raiders earned the 12th seed in the Div. 3 North bracket with a record of 8-8-4. Watertown will be the lower seed in the first round game against No. 5 seed Wayland (9-8-3) on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. But the game will be played at Watertown’s John Ryan Arena.

The last time Watertown’s boys hockey team was in the playoffs was 2016, the year after winning the State Championship. A year later, however, the Raiders did not field a varsity team, due to lack of numbers.

In 2018-19, the Raiders played their second non-league schedule. The winner of Thursday’s game faces the winner of Dracut/Tyngsboro and Northeast Regional. The top seed in the D3 North is Newton South.
