Members of Watertown High School’s Class of 2019 celebrate graduating on Friday evening. The student speakers at Watertown High School’s 2019 graduation shared memories of their four years at the high school, remarked on the students’ ability to adapt and thrive, and shared advice about how to be better people. The WHS Class of 2019 celebrated the culmination of four years of hard work, fun and congeniality during Friday evenings graduation ceremony at Victory Field. See the graduate list here. Watertown Farmers Market Has New Day, New Location & New Vendors

Pick up some peaches this week at the Watertown Farmers’ Market. The Watertown Farmers Market will open for the season on June 12, and will be in a new spot, on a new day and have new vendors joining many of the favorites from prior years. The market will now be held on Wednesdays at Saltonstall Park, next to Town Hall, 149 Main St., Watertown. The market runs June 12 to Oct. 9, rain or shine, from 2:30-6:30 p.m. (closing at 6 p.m. in October).

Repaving Could Cause Delays on North Beacon, Charles River Road

Roads inside and outside of the Arsenal on the Charles will be repaved in early June. Some of the roads inside and outside Arsenal on the Charles will be repaved beginning June 10, 2019. Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 10, the area where North Beacon Street meets Charles River Road (near the Arsenal on the Charles driveway). Also starting that day is work on roadways inside the complex, including the area off the east entrance to the complex from Arsenal Street (Talcott Avenue). The top layer of the roadway will be ground, or milled, down 1.5 to 1.75 inches, and the manhole and other castings will be adjusted.

Find Out About the Bus Priority Lanes on Mt. Auburn St. at Meeting

Buses like this one on the 71 bus have been given priority heading toward Harvard Square on Mt. Auburn Street in the new Cambridge-Watertown Bus Priority Pilot program. The following information was provided by the Town of Watertown:

Did you know that more than half of all commuters using Mt. Auburn Street during rush hour are riding the bus? 

Watertown and Cambridge, working with the MBTA and DCR, created a bus priority lane on Mt. Auburn Street for the 71 and 73 buses, between Cottage Street in Watertown and Fresh Pond Parkway in Cambridge, to help move buses faster. Extensive data collection of the before and after conditions will be presented at a meeting on:

School Committee Seeks Raise, Would be First Increase Since 2008

A lot of money was raised and spent on the 2015 Watertown Election. The Watertown School Committee voted to request a pay raise for its members on Monday night, and the increase would not take effect until the next term. The pay hike would be from $3,200 a year to $4,500 a year, but the request must first be approved by the Town Council. The request came because School Committee members who have to find childcare during meetings say the pay does not cover that cost. “After everything is taken out, we get less than $200 a month,” said School Committee member Lily Rayman-Read.
