Police Log: Home Broken Into, Car Missing from Auto Repair Shop

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

There were no arrests this week.

Incidents

March 16, 4:02 a.m.: A man was driving eastbound on Main Street when he saw two males walking across the street. Then he heard a loud bang. He stopped and saw the two males wearing dark clothing running away. He noticed eggs on the rear driver-side window, but there was no permanent damage.

March 16, 9:01 a.m.: A customer dropped his car off to be serviced at Sarris Auto Sales on Arsenal Street on March 14 and he was told the work was done. On the 16th he went to pick it up but the 2008 Mercedes ML350 was missing. The SUV had been parked on the lot, but it couldn’t be located. Police are investigating.

March 16, 7:21 p.m.: A School Street resident discovered someone had broken into his vehicle. There were marks consistent with someone using a wire hanger to open the lock. Taken were a Thinkpad laptop worth $250, a pair of Oakley sunglasses worth $130, and $38 in cash. Police are investigating.

March 19 1:09 a.m.: A Putnam Street resident discovered that someone had broken into her home. She left at 1:10 p.m. on March 18 and she returned at 2:45 p.m. and found items were taken from bedroom, living room and kitchen. The items take include jewelry (bracelet, necklace, seven pairs earrings and a watch) valued $2,020. A jewelry box was also missing with other items valued at $100. Also, a black wallet was taken which contained $20 cash and an insurance car. A white backpack and a scarf were taken from the kitchen, as well as a black purse with a white snakeskin handle. In total $2,817 in property was taken. There were no signs of forced entry, but the back door may have been left unlocked. Police are investigating.

March 20, 9:05 a.m.: The padding from a pole on the outdoor basketball court at the Atrium School was ripped off and damaged. It happened between 5 p.m. on March 19 and 8 a.m. on the 20th. The damage cost $100.

March 21, 3 p.m.: A man was seen taking items from CVS in Watertown Square. The managers said the man took three packages of baby wipes on the 21st. The same man was seen taking toothpaste on March 18. The suspect is described as a light-skinned African-American or Hispanic male. On the 21st he was dressed in royal blue exercise suit and he walks with a limp.

  1. March 19, our car was vandalized on Jensen Road between midnight and 9 am in the morning. Back window was smashed in. Police were called.
