Hatch Makerspace can help you get ready for the holidays with their workshops in December.

Hatch is located at 20 Summer Street, and is part of the Watertown Free Public Library. The following information was provided by Hatch:

Papercraft Characters with Yi Bin
Friday, December 4, 6 pm
Create your own cast of 3-dimensional characters using paper! You will learn techniques for cutting and folding to bring your imagination to life. This is a great workshop for families.

Pick up your free “Papercraft” kit. Numbers are limited, limit one per registrant. Please email the Hatch Coordinator to reserve yours. Kits include 12 sheets of heavyweight paper, 2 sheets of textured navy cardstock, 2 sheets of colorful origami paper, 1 pencil, 1 eraser, 1 glue stick, 1 large sheet of cardstock, and 1 small sheet of cardboard. 

3D Printed Ornaments with Liz
Monday, December 7, 5 pm
Learn how to design your own 3D printed ornament! No experience is necessary. In this workshop, we will use TinkerCAD to create custom ornaments. We will cover basic functions in the application, how to modify existing designs, and what file types work best on Hatch’s 3D printers. When your design is complete, send it in and we’ll print it out for you. Once your 3D printed ornament is ready, we’ll arrange a contactless curbside pickup.

Laser Loom Pendants with Cheryl
Friday, December 11, 6 pm
Create unique pendants using laser cut wood templates and embroidery floss. These make a great gift and a fun piece of wearable art. Great for all ages.

Pick up your free “Pendant” kit. Numbers are limited, limit one per registrant. Please email the Hatch Coordinator to reserve yours. Kits include 3 wood templates, 3 colors of embroidery floss, 1 embroidery needle, 3 large beads, and 20 small beads.

Intro to Arduino with David
Monday, December 14, 7 pm
Arduino 102 is an introductory workshop for those who are new to Arduino and microcontrollers but have some experience programming. This hands-on lab will teach participants about Arduino and how to start programming with them.

Pick up your free “Arduino” kit. Numbers are limited, limit one per registrant. Please email the Hatch Coordinator to reserve yours. Kits include 1 Arduino, 1 breadboard, 1 switch, 10 resistors, 2 photo-resistors, 8 jumper wires, and 3 LED diodes. Plus a surprise part!

Custom Gift Tags with Liz
Tuesday, December 15, 5 pm
Just in time for the holiday season! Create custom gift tags using cardstock paper and sticker vinyl. In this workshop, you will learn how to use Silhouette Studio, a free design software, to design your own set of gift tags. When your design is complete, send it in and we’ll print it out for you. Once your gift tags are ready, we’ll arrange a contactless curbside pickup.

Hatch Makerspace is located at 20 Summer Street in Watertown, MA. An extension of the Watertown Free Public Library, it is a public workshop with space, equipment, and materials available for your use.
