See what’s going on at the Watertown Library’s Hatch Makerspace in January.

Hatch Makerspace is located at 20 Summer Street in Watertown, MA. An extension of the Watertown Free Public Library, it is a public workshop with space, equipment, and materials available for your use. Virtual workshops are being offered during the pandemic. Customize Your Phone’s Home Screen with Yi Bin
Monday, January 4, 6pm
Learn how to customize the icons on your home screen using widgets, recently popularized by videos on TikTok. This is a fun way to express yourself visually and can be done on both Android and iOS devices.

Fleece Hand Warmers with Cheryl
Friday, January 15, 6pm
As the temperature drops, create a cozy set of fleece hand warmers. Participants will learn basic hand stitching techniques and how to sew buttons onto their creations.

Pick up your free “Fleece” kit. Numbers are limited, limit one per registrant. Please email the Hatch Coordinator to reserve yours. Kits include fleece fabric, 4 buttons, 2 hand sewing needles, thread, and pattern.

Intro to 3D Design with Dorie
Wednesday, January 20, 7pm
Learn the basics of 3D design using Onshape, a free CAD application. The design process is the first step towards creating original 3D prints and prototypes. Once your original 3D design is complete, get it printed for free. Advanced Arduino with David
Monday, January 25, 7pm
Arduino 201 is for those that have some experience with Arduinos and programming and want to take the next step.

Pick up your free “Arduino Booster” kit. Numbers are limited, limit one per registrant. Please email the Hatch Coordinator to reserve yours. Kits include 1 breadboard, 10 resistors, 8 jumper wires, 2 switches, 2 photo-resistors, and 3 LED diodes.

Finishing 3D Prints with Liz
Tuesday, January 26, 6pm
Few 3D prints leave the printer ready to showcase. Learn how to remove excess material, smooth out ridges, and fill in gaps. This workshop will focus on PLA prints.

Pick up your free “Finishing” kit. Numbers are limited, limit one per registrant. Please email the Hatch Coordinator to reserve yours. Kits include 2 sheets of sandpaper, 1 tube of super glue, a container of baking soda, a container of primer paint, and 2 small brushes.
