Watertown’s COVID-19 cases dropped for the third straight week, while vaccines have been made available only through the state’s vaccination locations.
The Mass. Department of Public Health reported that the number of cases over the previous 14 days in Watertown, as of Feb. 18, was 113. The number dropped by 20 from the previous week. The Town has a total of 1,970 cases.
Vaccines will no longer be available from the Town of Watertown’s Health Department, but those residents 75 and older who got shots during the Town-run clinics will be contacted about getting their second shot, according to the Senior Center.

Last week, the Health Department was informed by state officials that they would not be getting more vaccine. Health Director Larry Ramdin expressed his disappointment with the decision at last week’s Board of Health meeting.
Instead, people eligible to get the vaccine are being directed to the state’s sites, including at Fenway Park, the Natick Mall and Gillette Stadium, as well as at a variety of pharmacies. Some include select CVS locations (including the one on Watertown Street), Hannaford in Waltham, Wegman’s and other locations. See the sites by clicking here.

As a 65+ year old, I am now on Day 5 of a futile search for a vaccine appointment. I use 4 different websites, all of which I check frequently. When I locate an available appointment and try to book it, by the time I type in the required information, it is gone. I’ve done this dozens of times since Thursday.
I was so, so hoping that Watertown would have another clinic for my age cohort. My 75+ year old friends were pleased with their experience, not to mention the convenience.

How is it that we can make the vaccine but can’t make a working website.
I am having the same issue. I called 211 today and talked to a very nice lady that told me this whole week and every site is full. I was told to try calling back on Thursday or Friday to see if I could get in next week
Too bad that each town cannot dispense the 2nd shot since it went well for the first, but I can understand why there might not be enough people to work at sites in every city and town. The fun part will be finding out where one can get the 2nd shot without needing a road map.
The people who got the first shot from the Town will be able to get the second one from the Town, too. But sounds like no one else will.
Any idea when on Thursday the new schedule will be made available?
Curious if Watertown will continue to offer the free Covid testing at the Commanders Mansion?
I have really appreciated the testing and the convenience of it and hope it continues for at least another month.

I would like to give a great big Thank You to our health department staff for all they do. The COVID testing at the mansion has been convenient for Watertown residents and it is run by some very kind, efficient and thoughtful men and women. Kevin was wonderful in helping me to clear up the technical problem I was having getting my results. Thank you for your persistence in getting the residents vaccines. It is truly appreciated by this resident.
