Watertown High School’s graduation ceremony will return to Victory Field in 2021, with full attendance, and the senior class will also get to attend prom, the senior barbecue and other events.

The Class of 2021 will graduate on Friday, June 4 at 6 p.m. at Victory Field, announced WHS Principal Joel Giacobozzi on Tuesday.

There had been discussions about limiting the number of guests each student could invite, but with the change in the state’s COVID-19 guidelines the school will not limit the number of people attending the ceremony. School officials also consulted with the Watertown Health Department when making the decision to change the attendee rules.

Those attending must wear masks, Giacobozzi’s announcement said, and will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. While students will not be masked, they will sit socially distanced on the field. Also, the procession from the high school to Victory Field will not take place this year, so students must arrive at the field by 5:30 p.m. A mandatory graduation rehearsal will take place at 10 a.m. at the field.

Once again this year, the graduates will receive lawn signs. Those student who have not received a Class of 2021 yard sign, should see Ms. Linda Tracy in the Guidance Office (linda.tracy@watertown.k12.ma.us).
