The following announcement was provided by Angel Flight NE:
Watertown Ford received the Angel Flight NE’s Outstanding Partnership Award for its commitment of providing essential Ground Crew services to support patients and families in need.
Since 2020, the Ford Motor Company Fund has been supporting Angel Flight NE’s mission of coordinating free air transportation for children and adults to access life-saving medical treatment. Since its founding, Angel Flight NE has scheduled more than 103,000 patients/passengers’ flights who have been flown more than 14 million miles.
A vital component of Angel Flight NE’s mission is its Ground Crew services that provide free ground transportation to and from airports and medical facilities for our patients, which Watertown Ford is actively participating in. Angel Flight NE’s volunteer Ground Crew members are the compassionate individuals who meet / greet patients as well as accompanying family members and provide them comfort when they require transportation on the ground and ensure them that they are in safe hands.
“We feel so blessed to have the support of Ford’s Ground Crew contributing to our journeys of healing and hope,” said Rev. Larry Camerlin, President and Founder of Angel Flight NE. “Ford Dealers, like Watertown Ford, have been essential especially during these challenging times by providing safe and reliable free ground transportation for patients and families in need.”
“Watertown Ford is thankful we can play a small part in Angel Flight NE’s mission,” said Gerry Carson, General Manager of Watertown Ford. “It is an honor to work alongside an organization, like Angel Fight NE, that support patients and families in need. We encourage anyone looking to invest time or resources in a worthy cause to consider them.”
Having access to additional Ground Crew resources such as the Ford “runners” enables Angel Flight NE to redirect much needed funds to other resources as opposed to hiring paid for ground services. In 2020 alone, Ford Dealers throughout New England participated in nearly 100 ground crew missions.
To commemorate the organization’s 25th year milestone, AFNE will be celebrating this amazing milestone and those who have made it possible, such as the New England Ford Dealers, at the organization’s Annual Evening of Angels Gala being held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at the Seaport Hotel Boston.

About Angel Flight Northeast
Since 1996, Angel Flight Northeast (AFNE) has helped coordinate free air transportation for patients without financial resources to access life-saving medical care outside of their region. The organization is comprised of over 500 volunteer private pilots who combine their love of flying with the spirit of grassroots volunteerism by flying patients and their families to the critical health care they need. Air transportation is provided in private aircraft by volunteer pilots as well as through partnership with commercial aviation partners so that children and adults may access lifesaving medical care free of charge. Earth Angels generously donate their time and vehicles to transport patients to and from the airport/medical facilities.
AFNE is also a vital mode of transportation for organs, blood and for patients awaiting organ transplants. The organization also make compassion flights and provide air care wherever there is a compelling human need including COVID-19 relief efforts.
In total, AFNE has scheduled more than 103,000 patients/passengers who have been flown more than 14 million miles to more than 190 different health care facilities in 35+ states. To learn more about AFNE’s services, visit www.angelflightne.org.
