An Italian restaurant will be taking over the space previously occupied by Stellina Restaurant in Watertown Square.

Bar ‘Cino (pronounced “chee-no”) is part of a the Newport Restaurant Group that includes other locations of Bar ‘Cino in Brookline and Newport, R.I., the Papa Razzi restaurants in Wellesley and Concord, as well as the Castle Hill Inn in Newport.

The Brookline menu includes pizzas, pastas, entrees, bruschetta, and salads, among other dishes.

The restaurant will be located at 47 Main St. in Watertown. Boston Restaurant Talk spotted an advertisement for Bar ‘Cino on saying that the restaurant will be opening soon in Watertown.

Stellina Restaurant closed in August 2020 after serving Italian fare for 34 years.

The Watertown City Clerk’s office confirmed that the Licensing Board approved the transfer of Stellina’s all-alcohol license to Bar ‘Cino in August 2021. The establishment must still get permits approved by the Watertown Building Department and the Watertown Health Department, according to Noelle Gilligan, Head Clerk in the City Clerk’s Office.

Bar ‘Cino’s Brookline location is open for dinner on weekdays and lunch and dinner on weekends, while the Newport location is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.

  1. The Watertown News misspells “bruschetta,” which allows me to remind folks how it’s pronounced in Italian: Bruce Ketta (and NOT brooshetta). “CH in Italian is a hard K sound and so SCH is the SK sound.

  2. Having been to Bar Cino in Newport still the best and in Brookline I look forward to the Watertown location opening as it is closer to home. Would like to be first customer along with my lovely wife.

  3. I will miss Stellina and will really miss Little Thai Cafe. Like most old folk, I am upset by any change, but Bar’Cino will have to be awful good to make up for their loss.
