7 Watertown Students Make Dean’s List, Dozens of Local College Graduates

Watertown students earned academic honors at their college or university, and dozens earned a degree this spring.

Dean’s List

The following local students have made the dean’s list at Wentworth Institute of Technology for the Spring 2023 semester.

University of Rhode Island

The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce the Spring 2023 Dean’s List. Students named to the Dean’s List represent nearly all of Rhode Island’s cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, and many other states and countries.

To be included on the Dean’s List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable earning at least a 3.30 quality point average.

Approximately 5,500 students received bachelor’s degrees in over 100 majors at the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s Undergraduate Commencement on May 26, 2023 at the McGuirk Alumni Stadium.

Holy Cross

Holy Cross celebrated nearly 762 bachelor of arts degree recipients at its 177th Commencement held in person on Friday, May 26 at the DCU Center in Worcester. U.S. Senator Peter Welch ’69 of Vermont, a Class of 1969 alumnus, delivered this year’s address to the Class of 2023 and received an honorary degree.

University of Vermont

Harrison Massing of Watertown graduated from UVM with a bachelor’s in Psychological Science.

UVM President Suresh Garimella conferred degrees on an estimated 3,383 graduates at the university’s 222nd Commencement ceremony. Speaking on the spirit of excellence, the Honorable Sethuraman Panchanathan, director of the U.S. National Science Foundation, delivered the keynote address.

Emerson College

Emerson College awarded approximately 1,058 undergraduate degrees during the 143nd Commencement at Agganis Arena in Boston, MA on Sunday, May 14, 2023, including:

Emma Mcgoldrick of Watertown, MA (02472) received a BA in Media Arts Production.

Phen Sarles of Watertown, MA (02472) received a BA in Self-Designed.

American International College

Taquina Cachimuel, of Watertown MA, has been awarded a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from American International College (AIC) in Springfield, MA. Taquina joins all of AIC’s 2023 graduates in receiving well-deserved congratulations for their achievements.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

On May 20, 2023, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) awarded a total of 1,988 degrees – 152 doctoral degrees, 390 master’s degrees, and 1,446 bachelor’s degrees – to 1,957 students, some of whom earned multiple degrees.
