Oh Scrap! Warm Woolen Mittens

Saturday, December 16 10 a.m. – noon

Aren’t warm hands in winter one of your favorite things? We will sew these mittens from donated wool fabric and/or recycled and felted wool knits with a lining of your choice – fleece, cotton flannel, or other repurposed fabric. We’ll finish the cuff with a snappy button or other decorative element. Let the snow fly! This class is recommended for a confident beginner or intermediate sewist.

All materials and tools are provided.

This workshop is for adults and older children ages 12+. Children ages 12-17 may attend on their own as long as their parent or legal guardian cosigns Hatch’s waiver form in person.

This workshop starts on time. If you arrive late, your spot may be given to someone on the waitlist.

Registration is required.

Bad Drawing Club: Lantern Lights

Monday, December 18 · 6 – 8 p.m.

Featuring instructor Caroline DeBrota

Do you feel that you’re bad at drawing? Have you ever felt frustrated that your art doesn’t look as “good” as that of others? None of that matters at all at Bad Drawing Club, where we will explore the joy of making easy drawings that are relaxing, freeform, and empoweringly imperfect. Hatch Makerspace volunteer Caroline will lead the club in making easy drawings so uniformly bad that you might just start to rethink how good your bad drawings can be.

Lantern Lights: What sends a glow to the heart more than warm sunlight streaming through a colorful window? Artisans study for years to make intricate stained-glass panels and artworks. At Bad Drawing Club you can make designs that are arguably just as enjoyable but require far less skill! Combine markers, LED tea lights, pieces of paper, and sketches from fellow participants to make paper bag lanterns and other seasonal drawings. Draw in a little extra joy this winter – badly!

All materials and tools are provided.
