Watertown Police arrested a man for illegal possession of firearms after executing a search warrant of his home.
On May 27, Watertown Police executed a search warrant at an apartment on Dexter Avenue after receiving a tip of possible illegal firearm sales, according to a statement from the Watertown Police Chief Justin Hanrahan.
“As a result of the investigation, two illegal firearms were recovered, and Melvin Solis-Romero was placed under arrest,” the statement reads.
The investigation was conducted by Sgt. Mike Martino, Officer Colton Bailey and Officer Andrew DiDuca. They found a rifle and a revolver. Solis-Romero did not have a license for either one, according to Watertown Det. Sgt. Ken Swift. The investigation remains open.
Solis-Romero was charged with two counts of possession of firearm without license, two counts of improper storage of a firearm, and one count of possession of ammunition without a license, Swift said.
Let’s give thanks to our brave police officers for keeping us safe. They never know what they will encounter when they find themselves in these situations and with criminals having guns, it is such a dangerous profession. Who knows what Solis-Romero was intending to do with those guns!
The second amendment protects the right of every citizen except convicted felons to keep and bear arms. No license is required for constitutionally protected RIGHTS.
Unfortunately, such is not the case in MA and many other blue states. While Bruen made it less onerous to obtain an LTC here, we still must go through the process to get it. Gov. Healey and the one-party legislature have recently enacted more regulations to make it even more difficult for law abiding citizens to get an LTC. Meanwhile, fellows like Solis-Romero still have access to illegal firearms.

Actually state efforts to promote gun safety have been implemented under governors of both parties. We used to have many GOP Governors before MAGA made that impossible.
MAGA has nothing to do with it. Liberal transplants settling down here changed MA to one-political party state. Not everything is MAGA bad.
Go read H 4855. It does nothing to preclude criminals from getting illegal firearms. Read Bruen, which restored the citizens’ right to get an LTC with less restrictions. MAGA is irrelevant, but its mention is perennial in your comments. It’s not working.

I agree, unless he was a prohibited person as defined by federal law (not state), requiring any citizen to have any license or permit in order to posses firearms, is a violation of their 2’nd and 14’th amendment rights.
This state gives local authorities way too much power and discretion in determining who should be given permission to own a firearm and who should not.
Actually, this extremist view of the Second Amendment didn’t exist for the majority of our life as a nation. The Supreme Court only redefined the Second Amendment in 2008 in Heller v. D.C.
