Bar ‘Cino, located at 47 Main Street in Watertown, is pleased to announce that the restaurant will donate $2,496.00 in support of the Centre Street Food Pantry. The donation was raised through a fundraiser that ran from Aug. 17 though Aug. 31 in which 50 percent of all restaurant dessert sales were designated for the Pantry’s “No Child Hungry” program.
In a survey of families who visit Centre Street Food Pantry, more than half reported that their children did not receive subsidized meals in the summer, while the remainder who brought their children to an approved meal site said they came home and were still hungry. In response, the Centre Street Food Pantry has held the “No Child Hungry This Summer” fundraising campaign each of the last four summers to raise funds to provide lunch food items to approximately 1,400 children each month from June through September.
“We are so grateful to continue our partnership with Centre Street Food Pantry in support of all the great work it does for families in need in our community,” said Gary Morrison, Regional Manager, Newport Restaurant Group. “We also want to thank our loyal guests who indulged their sweet tooth in support of this important program.”
Each of Bar ‘Cino’s seasonal desserts were eligible during the fundraiser, and included Pistachio Ricotta Cake, Limoncello Mascarpone Cake, Tiramisu, Chocolate Budino Amaretti Tart, Affagato with espresso, Amaro, and vanilla gelato, and a selection of Gelato, including pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla. According to the restaurant, its number one seller during this period was Tiramisu, followed by Pistachio Ricotta Cake and Limoncello Mascarpone Cake.
“The support of partners like Newport Restaurant Group allow us to consistently provide nutritious food to local food-insecure families,” said Rose Saia, Executive Director, Centre Street Food Pantry.
The Centre Street Food Pantry is also a recipient of Newport Restaurant Group’s annual Gift Card Donation Program.
