Longtime dining destination, Not Your Average Joe’s, will be closing after more than a quarter century in Watertown Square.

The last day for the Watertown location is Feb. 11, 2026, according to Sara Murtagh, Regional Director of Operations for Not Your Average Joe’s.

“This is very sad for us as this is our oldest NYAJoe’s,” Murtagh said. “We have loved being a part of this community and have a lot of amazing memories.”

The location on Main Street opened 27 years ago. The original Not Your Average Joe’s is located in Dartmouth, and is still in operation but is owned by another company. The restaurant in Watertown is the oldest one still owned by NYAJ, Murtagh said.

The next closest Not Your Average Joe’s location is in Waltham at 56 Market Place Dr.

The Watertown Square area also recently lost another long standing eatery, China Rainbow, which closed after more than 50 years in business.

  1. It’s a shame that neither restaurant could wait it out until the new housing in the neighborhood is filled with Shoppers and restaurant goers.
