Watertown High School teacher Liz Mundy received some special gifts on Thursday as part of Teacher Appreciation Week: flowers and a proclamation delivered personally by Gov. Maura Healey.
Healey said she wanted to honor Mundy, a science teacher who was Massachusetts STEM Teacher of the Year.
A video of the visit was posted on the @massgovernor Instagram account.
“It’s Teacher Appreciation Week, so I stopped by Watertown High to surprise Ms. Mundy, the STEM Teacher of the Year! 🍎 To all the teachers across Massachusetts: thank you for everything you do to help our students succeed.”
One of Mundy’s students said that she makes dry subjects interesting.
See the video from the Governors visit below.
Healey also visited with some of the students during her visit to the Moxley Campus of Watertown High School.
The Watertown Public Schools posted pics, and a message on the WPS Instagram account: “Governor Maura Healey just dropped by Watertown High School to honor (and surprise) Massachusetts STEM Teacher of the Year Liz Mundy. Gov. Healey also met with students and recognized Teacher Appreciation Week with a brief schoolwide announcement. Thank you, Ms. Mundy, and all our amazing teachers!”
Congratulations to the teacher and thanks to the Governor!
