
The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
April 28: A resident was trying to get a loan from an online lender. He had received loans from the company before, but this time was rejected. Soon he received offers from other companies. He attempted to borrow $790 and was asked to provide online banking information and the login credentials. He received a $789 deposit. Only $200 was available to him, and he was contacted and pressured to repay the loan quickly. He did so, but later had an overdraft of $200, and realized it was a scam.
April 28: Two men went into Nike and took $260 in merchandise.
April 29: A child locked a scooter on Lowell Avenue, not far from Lowell School. When the owner returned about eight hours later the scooter and the lock were gone. The black and purple Prodigy Envy is valued at $220.
April 29: A Center Street resident realized that a check had been forged. The person still had the check, but it appears someone created a fake check and cashed it for $2,840.
May 1: A man came into CVS on Mt. Auburn Street and took about $250 in merchandise.
May 2: Four juveniles took $160 in items from Nike.
May 3: An older bike was dumped on the side of Belmont Street near Duff Street.
May 3: A man took $220 in groceries and household items from Target.
May 4: A fire broke out in some mulch located in the yard of a home on Hunt Street. The fire was doused before doing any damage.
May 4: A vehicle parked in a driveway on Putnam Street was broken into. Personal items were taken from the Mazda. The owner believes the vehicle was left unlocked.
May 5: A bicycle seat was taken from a bike stored in an unlocked interior space in a Pleasant Street apartment building. The seat is valued at $200.
May 6: A package was taken from a building on Warren Street. It contained cough medicine that cost $40. The incident remains under investigation.
May 7: A mattress was dumped on the side of Berkeley Street.
May 7: An excavator went missing and may have been stolen from a construction site in Watertown. A construction company doing work in the Coolidge Square area for the past year was doing inventory, and could not locate the $30,000 machine. It is not clear if it has been stolen.
May 7: A bicycle seat was taken from a bike parked in a garage on Howard Street.
