Senator Elizabeth Warren endorsed Daniel Lander in his campaign for State Senate, pointing towards his record of delivering real results in Boston, and his willingness to challenge the broken status quo politics that are not working for Massachusetts residents.

This endorsement marks the first time that Senator Warren has endorsed against a member of State Senate leadership, making clear that Lander’s campaign has serious momentum in its fight to challenge Senator Brownsberger, the architect of the broken Beacon Hill status quo.

“I know firsthand that Daniel is a fighter who is ready to make change for the people of Massachusetts. He’s an organizer, a problem solver, and has an impressive track record of public service. I have no doubt that Daniel will hit the ground running to lower housing costs, upgrade our infrastructure, and make a real difference for working families,” said United States Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Daniel Lander worked alongside Senator Warren on her 2020 presidential campaign, where he served as a senior political advisor, and led national organizing of LGBTQ+ and youth communities, championing efforts to tackle student debt and expand protections for vulnerable communities. Senator Warren’s endorsement highlights Daniel’s commitment to challenging business as usual on Beacon Hill and building a State Senate that will fight for working people.

“I’m deeply honored to earn the endorsement of Senator Elizabeth Warren. She is a trusted mentor and my political hero, I have been inspired by her leadership since she first ran for Senate in 2012. When Senator Warren first challenged an incumbent Senator, she faced an uphill battle and won by challenging a broken status quo that was leaving too many behind,” said Daniel Lander. “Senator Warren fights every day to make Washington deliver for working people. I am running against the architect of the broken Beacon Hill status quo, and I look forward to fighting alongside her in Massachusetts to make sure everyone can build a good life in our communities.”

Lander’s campaign continues to build significant momentum as this race heads into summer. This month, Daniel has been endorsed by the Working Families Party, the AFSCME Council 93 Boston Presidents Committee, and Cambridge City Councilors Marc McGovern, Jivan Sobrino-Wheeler, Ayah Al Zubi.

Daniel Lander is running for the State Senate to take on the broken status quo and make Beacon Hill work for the people. Lander was a campaign fellow on Senator Warren’s first 2012 senate race, knocking doors to get out the vote in Cambridge. He grew up in this district, and has worked alongside progressive leaders like Mayor Michelle Wu and Stacey Abrams. Daniel believes Massachusetts can be more affordable — and a great place to build a good life. He will tackle our housing crisis, work to transform the MBTA, and stand up to the Trump administration.

The Suffolk and Middlesex District includes all of Watertown, Belmont, as well as the Fenway and Allston Brighton neighborhoods of Boston, and West Cambridge. Learn more about Daniel Lander at www.daniellander.com
