The following announcement was provided by Dan Lander for State Senate:
Daniel Lander is proud to announce that his campaign for State Senate was endorsed by the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the union representing 117,00 educators throughout the state, including hundreds in Watertown, Cambridge, and Belmont. The endorsement highlights that the status quo is failing working people in Massachusetts, and that educators are ready for a state senate that fights for better public schools, better pay for teachers, and better conditions for students.
“I am very proud to receive an endorsement from the MTA,” said Daniel Lander. “Massachussetts has some of the best public schools in the country because we have the best public school educators in the nation. But in district after district, our public schools are under threat because of inadequate state funding because of the broken status quo on Beacon Hill. If elected, I will proudly stand with the MTA to make sure we are investing in our public schools so every child can get the first class education they deserve.”
The MTA represents 117,00 educators across Massachusetts and is the largest labor union in New England. The union is endorsing Daniel because educators are tired of status-quo politics that leave our educators and students behind.
“Daniel has a deep commitment to ensuring that our public schools are well funded. Daniel strongly cares about healthcare and housing; two issues that impact our students, families and educators,” said Janelle Lacy, president of the Watertown Educators Association and elementary school educator at the Cuniff. “I truly believe that Daniel will be the advocate in the Senate that educators have been waiting for!”
“The Massachusetts Teachers Association enthusiastically endorses Daniel Lander for state Senate. Daniel has proven his commitment to social justice and his ability to work with a broad constituency of advocates in protecting the rights and dignity of all people. The working families in Cambridge, Belmont, Watertown and Boston deserve a senator who will champion public education and the common good.
Daniel is going to Beacon Hill to fight for affordable housing, improved public transportation and protections for students and educators at public schools and colleges facing repercussions from federal policies that undermine public education,” said Max Page, president of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
Daniel Lander is running for the State Senate to take on the broken status quo and make Beacon Hill work for the people. He grew up in this district and has worked alongside progressive leaders like Senator Elizabeth Warren, Stacey Abrams and Mayor Michelle Wu. Daniel believes Massachusetts can be more affordable and a great place to build a good life. He will tackle the housing crisis, work to transform the MBTA and stand up to the Trump administration.
He has been endorsed by Senator Elizabeth Warren, Mayor Michelle Wu, Mass Alliance, IBEW 2222, AFSCME Council 93 Boston Presidents Committee, SEIU-NAGE, SEIU 888, and Unite Here Local 26.
