We the undersigned, are thrilled that Sheila Krishnan has stepped up to run for Watertown’s School Committee. Sheila respectfully listens to diverse perspectives, builds bridges, and takes stands that will advance Watertown’s well-being for all residents. When she offers suggestions or opinions, Sheila takes stands that will advance Watertown’s well-being for all residents.
Sheila is a deep thinker and keen observer. Sheila has proven to be a solid ally for all Watertown residents in a variety of ways and under many circumstances. Recent examples include her advocacy for the 2024 Health & Human Services Study and providing thoughtful feedback on the final report and serving as a community member on the Library Director hiring committee in 2022. She is not afraid to disagree, speak up, or ask questions that will move the work forward.
Most recently, we know Sheila in her work to support Watertown’s immigrant community as our schools seek to provide a quality education amid the dire stresses many families are facing. Sheila is active in our community-wide efforts to disseminate much needed information, mutual aid, and supports to our immigrant community members. As with all her efforts, Sheila seeks out 1-1 meetings with decision-makers and ground-level stakeholders to arm herself with facts. She proposes solutions based on data and the inputs of those most impacted so she can advocate for what educators, administrators, parents and children need. Sheila is all about community in the truest sense.
Sheila can be counted on to advocate and act on policies and practices that will lift all Watertown residents, as well as our children. With her background in high- level public health work, Sheila often reminds us of the importance of data. Most critically, she advocates that the data we value includes the lived experience of those who are most vulnerable and most impacted by decisions.
Sheila has built a reputation for her considerable and consistent thoughtfulness, transparency, and true professionalism.
We strongly believe that Sheila Krishnan has the leadership skills, humility, and family and community-centered values to best serve Watertown’s school community.
