
Tuesday will be State Tournament time at Victory Field when two Watertown High School teams host postseason games.
The four-time defending field hockey State Champions welcome Gloucester (14-4-1) at on Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. in the Round of 16 of the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament. The game may be the final home game for the fifth-seeded Raiders (16-2), who would have to hit the road if both they and fourth-seeded Medfield advance to the Elite 8. In the opening round, Watertown beat Swampscott 5-0, while Gloucester defeated Notre Dame (Worcester) 1-0.
At 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Watertown boys soccer team will host St. Mary’s in the MIAA Div. 3 Tournament Round of 32 matchup. The game will be the first time since 2019 that the Raiders have played a home tournament game. That year the Raiders made it to the North Section semifinals (equivalent to the Round of 16). Watertown is the 13th seed and has a 9-2-7 record, while St. Mary’s is the 20th seed with a record of 9-5-2. The winner will likely have to travel to play fourth-seeded Greater New Bedford RVT (14-4) in the Round of 16. Last year, Watertown lost 1-0 at Belchertown in the first round of the tournament.
