Police Log: 2 Cart-Loads of Items Stolen from Home Depot, Man Inadvertently Turns Himself In

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.

Jan. 1: A woman took $530 worth of apparel, health and beauty products and cleaning supplies from Target.

Jan. 2: A man purchased two shopping carts worth of merchandise from Home Depot. He pushed the carts outside the doors used for rentals and went back into the store. When he returned the carts were gone. The merchandise cost $593. Police are investigating.

Jan. 2: A Pleasant Street resident discovered the rear windshield of his Toyota Prius had been smashed out sometime overnight.

Jan. 2: Someone dumped a mattress, a toaster oven, a TV stand, a wastepaper basket, and two small side tables on the Watertown-Cambridge Greenway, near Cottage Street.

Jan. 4: A family was away and had someone checking on their home on Westminster Avenue. At around 9:30 p.m. the person noticed some damage to a door of the home. Police came and examined the damage and found that no one had gotten into the home. The incident is still under investigation.

Jan. 4: A woman stole $124 worth of merchandise from Target.

Jan. 4: Two shoplifters were seen in Target taking a combined $127 worth of health and beauty items, home items, and cleaning items.

Jan. 5: A family returned home from a trip and took an Uber from the airport. They were dropped off at 2 a.m. at their home on Fitchburg Street and inadvertently left their suitcase on the curb. The next morning they realized what had happened and when they went outside the suitcase was gone. It contained an estimated $1,200-$2,000 in items.

Jan. 6: Two twin sized mattresses and a dresser were left on the side of Pearl Street. They were left there sometime between Dec. 29 and Jan. 5.

Jan. 6: Officer Cathy Welch was patrolling near the intersection of Main Street and Waverley Avenue and spotted someone she recognized who was wanted on a warrant. She confirmed the warrant and placed Toros Torosian, of Watertown, under arrest for the warrant from Waltham District Court for open and gross lewdness, and trespassing.

Jan. 7: A man came to the Watertown Police Station because he was upset about his appearance at Waltham District Court the previous day. He had been summoned to court for making threats in October 2025, and was set to be arraigned. The man got frustrated about how long it took to get to his case so he left the courthouse. Officer Joey Farrar checked on the case and discovered the court put out a warrant for the man’s arrest. Thomas Lydon, 53, of Watertown, was arrested on the warrant for failure to appear in court.

Jan. 8: Someone threw eggs at a home and vehicle on Chestnut Street. It occurred on Jan. 7 between 4 and 5:30 p.m.

Jan. 8: A resident tried to renew a passport on a website believed to be authentic. The resident paid $138, and then discovered it was a fraudulent website. The resident reported the scam to police.

Jan. 8: A Hall Avenue resident was notified by Verizon that someone had added a phone on the resident’s account from a store in New York City. The resident got 300 spam texts in a few minutes and also realized someone had tried to make $1,900 in purchases from a post office in New York using the resident’s Citizens Bank card. The resident notified Verizon and Citizens, and also told police that personal information had been exposed in a Ticketmaster data breach.
