Suffolk and Middlesex Senate District
Abundant Housing Massachusetts (AHMA) has announced its endorsement of Senator William Brownsberger for reelection to the State Senate representing the Suffolk and Middlesex district.
Founded in 2020 to advocate for the creation of abundant housing for all, AHMA works to develop and support a network of grassroots, pro-housing groups and activists across Massachusetts. As part of its mission, AHMA surveys candidates in local races statewide and supports those who share its commitment to building more homes in their communities.
“AHMA is proud to endorse Senator Brownsberger in his reelection campaign for State Senator,” said Jesse Kanson-Benanav, executive director of AHMA. “His leadership was instrumental in the passage of the MBTA Communities Act and a leading voice in advocating for the Affordable Homes Act that legalized Accessory Dwelling Units by right across the Commonwealth. Senator Brownsberger has also continued to foster strong working relationships with our affiliate groups and members in his district, and we look forward to continuing our work with the senator to make Massachusetts a place all its residents can afford to live.”
“I’m grateful for AHMA’s support and recognition,” said Senator Brownsberger on receiving the organization’s endorsement. “Making housing abundant in Massachusetts is a central mission for me.”
10th Middlesex House District
Abundant Housing Massachusetts (AHMA) has announced its endorsement of Newton City Councilor Alison Leary for State Representative for Newton, Watertown, and Waltham.
“AHMA supports candidates that we believe will make real progress on solving the Commonwealth’s housing shortage, and we believe that Alison Leary will do just that,” said Jesse Kanson-Benanav, executive director of AHMA. “On the Newton City Council, Leary demonstrated pro-housing leadership as she advocated for strong compliance with the MBTA Communities Act. Although the city of Newton did not align with her vision, her fight for more homes did not go unnoticed. We are proud to endorse Alison Leary for 10th Middlesex State Representative.”
“I am honored to be endorsed by AHMA,” said Alison Leary. “I share their goals. We have a housing crisis in Massachusetts and we need to take stronger action to ensure that more homes actually get built!”
