The Watertown High School boy’s hockey team has made big leaps in improvements since the varsity program was put on hold for a year in 2016-17, and the Boston Globe has taken notice.

Developers proposing to build a 40B apartment complex on the site of the former Sterritt Lumber location will host a community meeting on the project. The community meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020 from 7-9 p.m. in the Lecture Hall at Watertown High School, 50 Columbia St. The project is proposed for the Sterritt Lumber site at 148 Waltham St.
The company seeking to open a marijuana dispensary on Pleasant Street on the Westside of Watertown will hold a community meeting about the project on Feb. 6. The announcement was provided by Bud’s Goods & Provisions Corp., the firm seeking to open the adult-use marijuana dispensary at 330-350 Pleasant St. The dispensary would be part of the new mixed-use development going up near the intersection of Pleasant Street and Rosdale Road. According to the presentation sent to the Town, Bud’s would occupy a 5,000 sq.

Jan. 9, 1:45 p.m.: Police responded to Home Depot when security spotted a man taking items and putting them under his clothing. When he was stopped, the man had $984.23 worth of merchandise. The items were recovered, but some of the packaging had been cut open.

A committee will be formed to look at the Watertown Town Charter and recommend changes to the document that establishes how the town’s government operates. The Charter Review occurs ever 10 years, and Town Council President Mark Sideris said he will be appointing six members of the public to join the Charter Review Commission. “They will be sitting with the Town Councilors and going through a very in depth review of the Town Charter and recommending any potential changes to the document,” Sideris said. The commission will meet regularly to go over the charter. Sideris said every section of the charter will be examined.

On Tuesday, the Town Council voted to appoint someone to fill the vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees. The opening occurred when one of the winners of the most recent election, Mara Dolan, resigned before being sworn in because she moved out of town. The Council could have voted to hold a special election to fill the spot, but they decided to seek another option.
