Watertown Boys Basketball Mounts Frantic Comeback, Before Falling to Weston

Watertown sophomore guard Gabe Spinelli scored 29 points in the Div. 3 North first round game against Weston. The Watertown High School boys basketball team showed heart and determination on Monday night, but the Raiders comeback attempt fell short in the MIAA Div. 3 North first round game against Weston. The visitors from Weston led by more than 20 points in the third quarter, but the Raiders battled back to within six points with less than a minute left in the game, ultimately losing 58-50.

Watertown Optometrist Raising Funds to Provide Free Clinics, Glasses

Eric Greene, who started An Eye at a Time, and a 75-year-old goat herder getting his first pair of glasses. The son of a Watertown optometrist has set up a charity to bring eye care and eyeglasses to areas of the world where they lack such care. Eric Greene founded An Eye at a Time to bring free eye care clinics and brings in volunteer eye care professionals, examination equipment, and glasses to people around the world. He started it when he was an optometric assistant at his father’s (Martin Greene) office, Greene and Greene Optometry in Watertown. Greene has started a GoFundMe.com site to raise money for his effort.

Police Log: Resident Victim of Two Frauds, Man Caught after Fleeing Home Depot with Drills

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

Feb. 14, 8 p.m.: Target security stopped a shoplifter who had been seen taking nearly $1,200 in merchandise. The woman was caught with athletic clothing, sleepwear, underwear, coats, boots and gloves. When police arrived they spoke to the woman and checked her record, finding that she had warrants for her arrests.

WHS Boys, Girls Basketball Teams Heading to Tournament

The Raiders will start the defense of their 2018 MIAA Div. 3 boys basketball State Championship on Monday at Watertown High School. The Raiders boys and girls basketball teams will both be returning to the State Tournament in 2019, with the boys hosting a first round game. The Watertown High School boys hoops team will defend its MIAA Div. 3 state championship starting on Monday night at home.

Watertown Farmers Market Moving, Teaming with Summer Concerts

The Watertown Farmers Market will have a new home and new day in 2019. Warm weather will return in a few months, and with it the return of the Watertown Farmers Market. However, the market will have a new location and a new day, plus it will be teamed up with the Summer Concert Series for several weeks. Starting on June 12, and running through Oct. 9, the Watertown Farmers Market will be held on Wednesdays and will be located at Saltonstall Park in Watertown Square, next to Town Hall.
