The Howe Building at Perkins School for the Blind. Children and their families are invited to participate in Perkins Schools of the Blinds’ Beeping Egg Hunt. Registration is open for the free event which will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the Perkins campus at 175 North Beacon StreetWatertown. There are two sessions, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Man Arrested in Watertown for Having Illegal Firearm

A Watertown man faces multiple firearms charges after a joint arrest by Watertown Police and other law enforcement agencies. On Jan. 25, Watertown Police were contacted by the Boston Police Department’s District 14, which had information about a man who lives and works in Town who had an illegal firearm, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Watertown Police worked with the Boston Police and the Suburban Middlesex Drug Task Force. They tracked the suspect, identified as Carlos M. Guardado, to AutoZone on Arsenal Street, where he worked, and placed him under surveillance, O’Connor said.

If you have you been frustrated by not being able to find parking in Watertown Square or Coolidge Square, found a broken meter, or not been able to find the hours when you have to pay to park — well, Town officials want to hear from you. Watertown officials recently hosted a pair of open houses to talk to residents and people who work in Town about the parking situation in Watertown’s two main business districts. There are many parking spaces in these areas, with more than 1,500 in Watertown Square and nearly 1,400 in Coolidge Square. The majority are off-street spaces. Town officials do not just want to replace the aging parking meters, but to come up with a parking plan.

New Rules for Cell Antennas May Help Town Deal with Problematic Utility Poles

The Public Works Subcommittee passed rules for cell antennas going on poles which they hope will deal with double poles and leaning ones. New rules about where cell antennas can go and what they will look like went into place at a Council subcommittee meeting Tuesday. They include efforts to address the problems of leaning utility poles and double poles around town, but did not go as far as originally proposed. The new rules have a long name: the Grant of Location for a Small Wireless Facility Located in a Public Right of Way in the Town of Watertown.

Professional Dental Image provides dental care for people who cannot afford it each month. A Watertown dental practice has started providing free dental care for people in the community who cannot afford it. Professional Dental Image in East Watertown provides free dental care to people with urgent need and who cannot afford to pay for the work, said Dr. M. Zakkoom, who runs the practice with his dental partner Dr. M. Kamel. “We wanted to do it to give back to the community,” Zakkoom said. “Every first Thursday of the month we fit people in with our regular appointments.
