Snow in Watertown’s Forecast, Could Impact Monday’s Commute

The National Weather Service forecast calls for 1-3 inches of snow in the Boston area, and it could impact the morning commute on Monday. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 7 p.m. Sunday to 1 p.m. Monday. Snow will begin falling Sunday night and will turn to rain Monday morning. There is a possibility of freezing rain during the change from snow to rain, according to the National Weather Service. The low on Sunday will be 26 degrees, but temperatures will rise on Monday with a high in the low 40s.

Watertown Basketball Tips Off This Week, See the Boys & Girls Schedules

Watertown High School’s girls and boys basketball teams tip off the 2016-17 season this week and see if they can repeat or improve on last year’s successful seasons. 
The girls come off the team’s first trip to the State Final and return star center Shannon Murphy. The Raiders finished the regular season 17-3 and fell to Longmeadow in the State Final in Springfield. The boys went 10-10 in the regular season, made the tournament and fell in the Div. 3 North Section quarterfinal. Both teams start the season with league games against Arlington, the boys away and the girls at home.

Police: Missing Watertown Man Has Been Found

The 20-year old Watertown man who was reported missing this week has been located and is safe. The Watertown Police announced that Devon Casseus has located and he is safe, adding “Thank you for your assistance.” Casseus had been reported missing by his family on Dec. 6.

Planned ‘Road Diet’ for Mt. Auburn Street Gets Mixed Reviews

The town’s plans to renovate Mt. Auburn Street include a “Road Diet” where the roadway will be reduced to one lane each way for most of its length, and bike lanes will be added, along with some new traffic lights. Plans were presented at the Watertown Library on Thursday night at a meeting where the Department of Public Works sought input from the public. The residents at the meeting had a mixed reaction to the ideas for changing the stretch of Mt. Auburn Street between Watertown Square and School Street.
