Apartment Complex on Watertown’s Westside Has Amenities Open to Public

Tucked away off the road on the far west side of Watertown is a residential complex that offers many amenities found in modern apartment complexes, including some of which that the general public can take advantage. Bell Watertown sits near Waltham Street, across from Gore Place. The community was built in 2014 and when it opened it was known as Alta at the Estate. Two Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle on Watertown Street, Traffic Being Rerouted

Two people went to hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Watertown Street, near Hibernian Hall. 

Two adults were struck on Watertown Street near Fifth Avenue and suffered serious injuries, according to Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Police did not release details about the accident. A State Police accident investigation team has been called to examine the area. At about 4:25 p.m. Watertown Police announced that Watertown Street will be closed in the area of the accident, and traffic will be rerouted onto California Street.

Basking in the glow of another Thanksgiving Day win over Belmont, Watertown High School football coach John Cacace heaped praise on his team. 

This year’s Raiders accomplished a lot, Cacace noted, finishing 9-2 winning a share of the Middlesex League Freedom Division title and went to the Div. 3 North Section Final. “This is one of the best teams in Watertown history,” Cacace said. “In 2014, we went 9-2 in 2014 we didn’t make the playoff run these guys did: sectional finalist, middlesex league champs. This is one of the all time great seasons for Watertown.

Lowell School Students Send a Message of Peace Before Thanksgiving

Lowell School took one of their core values and ran with it, creating a bit of a Facebook sensation. The day before Thanksgiving, the school held a kindness assembly, said Lowell’s interim principal Phil Oates. “It was facilitated by Eileen Donahue, our physical education teacher,” Oates said. “She taught the kids a rhyming kindness message that we all said together as a school.” Donahue, who is also coach of the Watertown High School field hockey team, took photos of children doing acts of kindness and featured them during the presentation.

Remember, Watertown’s Winter Parking Ban has Started

Watertown’s Winter Parking Ban starts today, so make sure to get your cars off the street. 

The Watertown Police Department sent out the following information:

Effective November 28, 2016 and continuing to April 1, 2017 the Winter Parking Ban will be in effect and strictly enforced. The regulation reads in part; “No vehicle may remain on any public way for more than one hour between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. all days of the week.” For residents who lack sufficient off-street parking, the Town allows for temporary parking at any municipal parking lot and other locations noted:

• The police station at 552 Main Street (visitor’s parking lot only)

• Any public school parking lot

• Marion Road parking lot at Victory Field

• O’Connell Park, (lot at the corner of Boylston Street and Mt Auburn Street)

Please note that these locations may be used free of charge, however vehicles may only use available spaces after 7 p.m. and must be moved/removed by 7 a.m. the following day. Vehicles must be removed from school property no later than 6 a.m. Violators may be towed.
