I am running for School Committee because I value education – for my three young children, for the children and families in Watertown and for the health and vibrancy of our town.

When I first ran for school committee in 2011, I was drawn to four main issues which I felt needed to be addressed: resolving the teacher’s contract, budget concerns, appointing a new superintendent and expanding special education programming.
The Wayside Multi-Service Center in Watertown needs part-time administrative assistant. Description/Qualifications: Part time (20-24 hour per week) administrative assistant position to perform office management and secretarial tasks for Watertown office. Duties include overseeing office functioning, answering phones, maintaining office equipment, ordering supplies, reports, data collection and mailings. Qualified candidate will have excellent clerical and computer skills, must be a self starter, have the ability to seek out areas for improvement and have excellent time management and prioritization skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to maintain strict confidentiality, a sense of humor and the ability to perform multiple tasks with flexibility are a must.
A concert for lovers of organ music will be held at Watertown’s Armenian Memorial Church, featuring five organists who have played at the church. The church sent out the following information:
The Armenian Memorial Church, 32 Bigelow Avenue, Watertown, is pleased to present the Organists Homecoming Concert to be held on Sunday, Oct. 25 at 3 p.m.
This concert is free and open to the public; donations will be greatly appreciated for the church’s music ministry. The program will feature performances by five talented musicians who have served as organists at the church over the past 30 years: Dennis Chan, Terry Halco, Michael Kraft, Rowland Moseley, Wayne Ward. A reception will follow the concert.
You might notice Watertown firefighters clad in Pepto Bismol colored T-shirts, instead of their normal dar blue ones. They are going pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month. The tradition started several years ago when now-retired firefighter Tom Thibault approached Fire Chief Mario Orangio about doing something to raise awareness after Thibault’s wife was diagnosed with the disease. “My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, so I said, sure,” Orangio said. “The guys like it.
Watertown residents can meet with State Rep. Jonathan Hecht to discuss matters concerning them, or upcoming state legislation. Rep, Jonathan Hecht will hold office hours on Friday, Oct. 16 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on the Third Floor hallway of Watertown Town Hall, and on Monday, Oct. 26 from 5-6 p.m. in the Raya Stern Trustees Room in the Watertown Public Library. Constituents are invited to meet with Rep. Hecht to discuss pending legislation or any other issue of concern to them.
Live Well Watertown presents the second free cooking class at the Watertown Free Public Library on Thursday. All are welcome to attend the second cooking class with Chef Coppe and learn how to make Minestrone Soup, French Lentil Salad, and a scrumptious baked apple dessert! Samples will be served. The event is Thursday, Oct. 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Watertown Free Public Library.
