Watertown TMA Puts Out Survey About City’s Shuttle, Commuting

The City of Watertown provided the following information:

Your participation can help decision-makers to understand the needs and preferences of the community and make informed decisions. Take the WATConnector survey and make a difference in your community. The survey will be up for one month.

Watertown Students Can Apply for Charles River Chamber Scholarship

The Charles River Regional Chamber is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities for up to four deserving students who either live in Needham, Newton, Watertown or Wellesley and/or who attend school in Needham, Newton, Watertown or Wellesley and who plan to attend an accredited college or university in the next academic year. The student(s) selected will have a check (approximately $2,000) sent to their college or university to be applied toward tuition upon successful completion of their first semester. Selection will be made by a panel of local leaders who will review all applications completed by the submission deadline of March 31. Decisions will be made based on a combination of the application’s completeness and accuracy, letter of recommendation and responses to essay questions. Watertown Business Community Town Hall Being Hosted by Charles River Chamber

The Charles River Chamber of Commerce will host a Watertown Business Community Town Hall on Wednesday, March 22 from 9 to 10 a.m. via Zoom. The event is free for members & non-members. The Chamber sent out the following information:

Watertown has experienced a remarkable period of growth and change that’s projected to continue in the coming years. By 2031, the city is expected to add more than 6,000 jobs, mostly in the research and development sectors. A positive impact of this economic development is that it will increase the non-residential tax base.

Watertown Savings Assures Customers the Bank is Safe, Secure and Insured

In the wake of the collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank, Watertown Savings’ President and CEO Brett Dean sent out a message to customers saying that the local bank is “safe, secure and insured.” See the email sent by the bank below:

Rotary Club Offering Scholarships to High School Seniors

The following information was provided by the Rotary Club of Watertown:

All residents of Watertown who are high school seniors and applying to college are eligible for Watertown Rotary Scholarships. The amount of each award and the number of scholarships granted are determined on a yearly basis. 

All eligible residents must submit completed applications, postmarked no later than April 14, 2023 to:

The form must be completed in full and accompanied by a transcript and letter of recommendation to be considered a valid application. Only one application need be submitted to be eligible for consideration for all scholarships available through the Rotary Club of Watertown.

City Buildings Closing Early for Storm, Council Meeting Postponed

The City of Watertown sent out the following information:

The City Manager is closing City Hall, the Library, and the Senior Center at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, as storm conditions are expected to worsen this afternoon. All afterschool and evening recreation programs are also canceled. All items scheduled for this evening’s City Council meeting will be continued to a new meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 16th. As a reminder, a snow emergency went into effect at 12 p.m. Tuesday, March 14. On-street parking is banned, and cars left on the street are subject to towing.
