The Watertown Recreation Department will start a pickleball league in June. Pickleball is a sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It is played on a court the size of a badminton court with a slightly adjusted tennis net. Players use large paddle and a plastic ball with holes in it. It can be played in singles or doubles format.

Watertown’s Second Community Iftar proved again that Watertown truly embraces its diversity. Last week at the Mosesian Cultural and Youth Center of St. James Armenian Church, nearly 200 people shared Iftar, the fast-breaking meal that takes place every evening during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Supported by Watertown Community Foundation and many area restaurants, and co-sponsored by World in Watertown, Progressive Watertown, First Parish Church and Church of the Good Shepherd, this event was conceived by the Refugee Support Group of Watertown Citizens for Peace, Justice and the Environment.

A Funeral Mass for Shirley (Hogan) Connolly will be celebrated, in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown. She was a daughter of the late John Joseph Hogan and Ida (Morgan) Hogan. Shirley passed away at the age of 94. Shirley was born in Cambridge, raised in Watertown, and was a graduate of Watertown High School. She was a parishioner in St.

The Watertown Community Foundation has awarded grants totaling $52,000 to initiatives in two categories:
One: WCF’s Program Grants awards grants designed to help organizations that serve Watertown develop new or continue existing programs with an educational focus (broadly defined). These are programs that operate outside of the Watertown’s public schools.
Two: WCF’s Institutional Grants are designed to help institutions central to the Watertown community by providing funds to maintain critical programming and retain paid staff. Grants under this program impose neither restrictions on the use of funds nor any program requirements.
Eligible organizations apply for a maximum of $3000 for program grants and a maximum of $5000 for institutional grants. All of the grants are funded by the Foundation’s Watertown Arsenal Education Fund.

The Mosesian Center for the Arts invites you to Arts For All Festival 2019 happening this Saturday! This free, family-friendly, drop-in open house takes place June 8, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Mosesian Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal Street in Watertown and offers visual and performing arts workshops, kid friendly activities, Steam Roller Printing, performances by Drumatix, Keytar Bear, and more!
Artists of all ages and abilities can explore the senses with a variety of arts activities like Sound Inspired Art, Nature in Watercolor, Musical Story Corner, and Air Dry Clay Sculpting. The event will once again feature The Steamroller Printing Project where professional printmakers ink up carved plates then roll over them with an industrial steamroller from the Watertown DPW yard to create relief print masterpieces! Rhythm and dance group DrumatiX will share their blend of dance and drumming using tap dance, everyday objects, large drums/barrels, body percussion, technology and tons of humor on the Mosesian MainStage! And Boston’s most beloved busker Keytar Bear will rock some tunes on the green from 11am to 1pm.

Every first Friday of the month, the Watertown Mall hosts a free blood pressure screening from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. For this upcoming month, this will happen on June 7, 2019. The screenings are sponsored by the Watertown Health Department. Screenings take place in the back hallway of the mall, near Target & Carter’s. About the Watertown Mall:
