Film and Discussion on Gender Identity to be Hosted by Watertown Group

On Tuesday, April 30, World in Watertown will present the National Geographic documentary entitled Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric, followed by a panel discussion of issues related to gender identity. The program will be held in the Watertown Savings Bank Room of the Watertown Free Public Library, 123 Main St. It will begin with pizza promptly at 6:00 p.m.

The program is free, and the public is warmly invited to attend. In this widely acclaimed film, “Katie Couric sets out across America to meet with leading scientists, physicians, and experts to answer questions about gender and gender identity. She speaks with everyday people who find their lives and bodies on the front line of a changing world.

Small Saves: Goalie Gear

James DeMarco grew up in Watertown and became a goaltender at age 5. It’s his life’s passion to stand between the pipes and keep the puck out of the net. Combining this with the love of cartooning, Small Savesemerged in 1991 and took on a life of his own. “To play goal–then come home and draw Small Saves — is my ideal definition of a good day.”

MassBay Community College Hosting Open House for Prospective Students

MassBay Community College provided the following information:

MassBay Community College will hold its annual Spring Open House on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. on the Wellesley Hills campus. President Dr. David Podell along with faculty, staff and students will be on hand to greet and welcome prospective students and their families to the Wellesley Hills campus. The Spring Open House is an opportunity for prospective students to meet and talk with current students, faculty, and staff to learn about the 70 degree and certificate programs offered at MassBay and transfer opportunities after MassBay. Prospective students are encouraged to attend to learn more about student clubs and organizations, the admissions and financial aid process, and talk with academic divisions. The Open House will include a self-guided tour of campus, information sessions, student and alumni panel discussions, information for veterans, on-the-spot admissions, and more. Easter Tradition Continues at Perkins School for the Blind

Hundreds of children and extended family members joined in on the 7th Annual Beeping Egg Hunt at Perkins School for the Blind on Saturday, April 6th. Three hundred brightly-colored, plastic eggs that emit high-pitched beeps were placed around the central playground on Perkins’ Watertown Campus. The Beeping Egg Hunt is a specialized event for children with visual impairments and their families. Each year it attracts students enrolled in both day and residential programs at Perkins, as well as other area families.

OBIT: Eva Mason, 100, Worked at Perkins, Graduated from Watertown High

A Funeral Home Service will be held on Saturday April 20, 2019 at 10 am in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, Watertown for Eva C. (Karcher) Mason. Mrs. Mason passed away on Friday evening, April 12 in the Watertown Health Care Center. Born in 1918, Eva was 11 days shy of her 101st birthday. A lifelong resident of Watertown, she graduated from Watertown High School, Class of 1936. She retired from Perkins School of the Blind, Watertown.
