Volunteers Lent a Hand at the Watertown Housing Authority During Watertown Helps Out

The Watertown Housing Authority hostedannual Watertown Helps Out Day and got a hand from volunteers from C4 Therapeutics. The following announcement was provided by the Watertown Housing Authority. On May 14th the Watertown Housing Authority participated in this year’s annual Watertown Helps Out Day, put on by the Watertown Community Foundation. The Watertown Housing Authority took part in the 2025 Watertown Helps Out, organized by the Watertown Community Foundation. We’re so grateful for the volunteers from C4 Therapeutics who came out to work alongside WHA staff to pick up trash, recycle used bulk items, dispose of household waste, landscape, make our parking lots safer, and add cosmetic upgrades to our buildings.

Hearing on Mt. Auburn St. Trees Rescheduled After Legal Determination

16″ DBH Honeylocust at 489 Mount Auburn Street in Watertown. A public hearing on the fate of nine trees on and near Mt. Auburn Street was held on Wednesday. At the hearing, it appeared that the future of the trees was out of the hands of the City of Watertown, but a legal counsel’s determination has changed that and the hearing has been rescheduled. The City of Watertown sent out the following announcement:

Mount Auburn Street Tree Hearing Statement At the scheduled tree hearing on May 14, 2025, city staff indicated that the trees on Mount Auburn Street that are scheduled to be removed are not under the purview of the city’s Tree Warden.

Pieces of Old Bus Wire System Being Removed as Part of Mt. Auburn Street Project

The bases that used to hold the wires for the MBTA’s electric buses will be removed this week as part of the Mt. Auburn Street Project. See details in the announcement provided by the City of Watertown. Beginning Monday, May 19, 2025, Newport Construction will resume removing the overhead catenary bases along Mount Auburn Street, starting at School Lane and progressing westbound toward Watertown Square. Traffic and Sidewalk Impacts

During this work, you can expect temporary lane shifts and possibly lane closures, but one travel lane in each direction will remain on Mount Auburn Street.

City Council Will Hear from Department Heads at Three Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Hearings

The City Council will hold three hearings on the Fiscal Year 2025 Watertown City Budget beginning on Tuesday, May 20. See more information provided by the City below. In accordance with the Watertown City Charter and Council Rules, the Honorable City Council of the City of Watertown will meet, as the Committee of the Whole, for the purpose of holding public hearings on the City Manager’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2026. Department Heads will be available for questions at the above scheduled hearings. Under this schedule, it’s anticipated that the City Council will take formal action on the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget at its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.

The Mosesian Center for the Arts is excited to showcase work that uses at least one or more printmaking processes. Contemporary printmaking is both shaped by tradition and innovation. This exhibition explores the variety of ways that contemporary artists approach printmaking from employing traditional techniques to more alternative methods and materials.
