South End Restaurant Opening New Location in Watertown

The Gallows and the developers of Arsenal Yards announced that the South End eatery will be opening a new location in the remodeled Arsenal Mall in Watertown. Diners can enjoy modern American cuisine with a French flair in the new location at Arsenal Yards, which will feature a patio dining area. The Gallows is part of a group of restaurants and eateries, that also includes Blackbird Doughnuts, Banyan and Sally’s Sandwiches. The following announcement was provided by Boylston Properties:

Boylston Properties and Wilder proudly announced today that The Gallows restaurant, which has been a popular South End favorite since 2010, will open its second location in Watertown’s Arsenal Yards neighborhood. The 4,000-square-foot space will be The Gallows’ very first hybrid restaurant featuring cult-favorite doughnuts from Blackbird Doughnuts, new food and beverage concepts, and outdoor dining on its patio overlooking Arsenal Park on the Charles River.

Life Science Company Moving into Watertown’s Arsenal Yards

With the Charles River and Arsenal Park on its south side and energized shops and restaurants on its north side, the life science lab space is set within an original 1800s Arsenal historic building, offering a number of amenities and a private shuttle to the Harvard Square red line T stop. Life science companies are flocking to Watertown to secure space in the town’s booming biotech scene. Kymera Therapeutics continues this trend, joining SQZ Biotech in moving to Arsenal Yards’ life science lab space. The new development is located across the street from LINX, 185,000 square feet of currently fully leased lab space, also developed by Boylston Properties.

Watertown Fire Department Teams with Domino’s During Fire Prevention Week

Watertown Domino’s, located at 111 Arsenal St., and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) are teaming up with Watertown Fire Department to promote fire safety during Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 6-12). On Oct. 9 from 5-7 p.m.

Anyone who orders a Domino’s pizza may be randomly selected and surprised at the door when their pizza arrives aboard a fire engine. If the smoke alarms in the home are working, the pizza is free.

Athenahealth Looking to Sell Arsenal on Charles, May Impact Partnership with Town

One of the largest employers in town and owner of the Arsenal on the Charles seeks to sell their headquarters property, but plans to stay in Watertown. The potential sale may impact a partnership athenahealth entered with the Town and a state agency. The Boston Globe reported that the health data tech company would like to sell the 29-acre former U.S. Army Arsenal property which it purchased from Harvard University in 2013. The article indicates that athena would like to sign a long-term lease with the new owners. “Since the change in our company ownership earlier this year, we at athenahealth have been striving to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality and sustainable health care for all,” the company said in a statement.

Developers Discussing Self Storage Facility Proposed in East Watertown

An illustration of the proposed self-storage facility planned for 19 Coolidge Hill Road, at the corner of Arlington Street. The developers proposing to build a self-storage facility that would overlook Arlington Street will discuss their plans at a community meeting. The project is planned for 19 Coolidge Hill Road, and the meeting will be held at the property at that location on Oct. 9, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.

Developers, 19 Coolidge Hill LLC, submitted information to the Watertown Planning Department. The plans show five levels of self storage in a building that would be 53 feet tall, and the building footprint is 14,946 sq.
