See the Top Agents in 2019, a Super Hot Year for Watertown Real Estate


For Watertown, 2019 was one of the hottest real estate markets ever, and many of the top agents from previous years once again led in sales over the past year.

Realty Executive’s Ari Koufos had the most properties sold, 37, and also topped the list in total sales amount $37.84 million, according to the sales reports on the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) during 2019.

“Everything clicked for me last year. For me it’s the best year I’ve ever had,” Koufos said. “I did $51 million statewide individually And $37+ million in Watertown.”

The town resident was Watertown’s top agent in 2017 and 2018. Last year he had $21.91 million, and in 2017 he had $25.7 million. Koufos added that the residential property sales in Watertown jumped in 2019. In 2018 there were a total of 367 total units sold (single families condos and multi families), and in 2019 the number rose to 429.

“So, there were more sold in 2019 and prices rose as high as 10 percent on certain types of properties, sometimes less, and on occasion more,” Koufos said.

The total sales went from $496.18 million in 2018 to $590.26 million last year. The numbers in 2017 were similar to 2018, with 357 properties sold for a combined $446.1 million.

The second and third highest agents swapped positions from 2018. Watertown’s Bob Airasian, who works with Coldwell Banker in Belmont, had the second most sales, with $19.83 million from 24 sales.

The Mike Del Rose Real Estate Team from RE/MAX had the third highest sales, with 17 sales for a combined $15.17 million.

Two agents who did not make the top 10 in 2018 cracked the top five last year. Fourth highest on the list was Joselin Malkhasian of Lamacchia Realty, who sold $11.63 million from 16 sales. In fifth place was Brian Fitzpatrick from Coldwell Banker of Waltham, with 12 sales for at total of $8.84 million.

Realty Executives of Watertown, owned by Koufos, was the top real estate agency for Watertown properties. The firm sold 42 units for $42.73 million in 2019. Last year, Realty Executives sold 28 properties for $23.72 million to gain the top spot.

Two different offices of Coldwell Banker took the second and third spots on the list for Watertown residential sales. The Belmont office sold 39 properties for $31.3 million. The company’s Waltham location sold 25 units for a total of $19.91 million. The Belmont office was second in 2018, while the Waltham location was eighth.

Lamacchia Realty had the fourth highest sales, with $19.18 million from 26 properties. The agency did not crack the top 10 in Watertown in 2018.

In the fifth spot was Keller Williams of Newton, which had 25 units sold, for $18.3 million. Last year, the office had the ninth highest amount of sales.
