Featured Artists

Flamenco Boston was founded in 2007 by Lauren O’Donnell with the mission of sharing the art of flamenco throughout New England. Through performances, educational programs, workshops, and community events, the organization has worked to connect audiences and students with this incredible art form.

Flamenco originated in the cultural crossroads of southern Spain, drawing influence from Andalusian, Moorish, Sephardic Jewish, and Romani traditions. Today, Flamenco Boston collaborates with artists from Boston, New York City, across the Northeast, and Spain. Under the direction of guitarist Anthony Tiriti Tran, the organization presents a variety of programming, including performances, lecture demonstrations, school programs, and workshops for audiences of all ages.

Flamenco Boston has appeared at theaters, libraries, museums, universities, festivals, and community spaces throughout the region, including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, MIT, Harvard University, Northeastern University, and Boston University.

Each performance brings together a unique combination of musicians, singers, and dancers, reflecting the collaborative and improvisational spirit at the heart of flamenco. (flamencoboston.com)

Los Mambiseros is a Boston-based Traditional Cuban Music and Fusion project led by Cuban-American artist Christopher Carlos Montejo. The project’s mission is to share and celebrate Cuba’s folkloric culture, music, and dance. The group is a flexible trio-to-septet ensemble that focuses on traditional Cuban music, including Son, Rumba, Bolero, Changüí, Danzón, Cha-Cha-Cha, as well as experimental jazz and salsa.

“Mambiseros” is a playful spelling of “mambíses,” the revolutionary guerrilla fighters from the Cuban Wars of Independence. The mambíses were a grassroots, freedom-fighting force represented and led by Caribbeans of diverse racial and social backgrounds. The project spans time and aligns with the decolonial, international, and rebellious spirit of being “mambí.” (ccmontejo.com)
