Watertown’s Field Hockey Success Continues at Bay State Games

Watertown field hockey players continued their success over the summer at the Bay State Games, held over the weekend. 

The Raiders had players on the Gold Medal winning Metro/Northeast field hockey team, and Watertown won the High School Division 6v6 tournament at the Bay State Games. Watertown’s Catherine Connors, Ally Kennedy, Aurise Tattrie, and Ashley Shaughnessy played for the Metro/Northeast team. Over the three days of the tournament, Kennedy scored five goals and had two assists (including one in the 3-2 win over Coastal in the Gold Medal game), Connors had a goal and Tattrie had an assist. The members of the Watertown’s Bay State Games 6v6 Gold Medal winning team were: Connors, Tattrie, Kennedy, Gabby Venezia, Olivia Lampasona, Emily Campbell, Shannon Hughes and Elaine Andrade.

Watertown-Belmont Youth Football and Cheerleading is now accepting registrations for the fall 2018 season with a deadline of July 15th. Practices begin on Monday, August 6th, 2018 at Moxley Field in Watertown. Our program offers two different divisions: flag football for first and second graders, tackle football for third through eighth grade and cheerleading for all grades. WHS Sports: Baseball and Softball Compete in State Tournament

Two Watertown High School teams took the diamond Friday in first game of the MIAA State Tournament game, one at home and one on the road. Baseball

The Raiders came up against Newburyport’s tough left-handed pitcher Casey McLaren, who blanked 17th seeded Watertown, 3-0, in Friday’s Div. 3 North preliminary round game. Watertown senior right fielder Wenston Rodriguez got the team’s lone hit. The Raiders also got a walk.

Watertown High School’s athletic successes continued into the spring season, with four teams earning spots in the state tournament. 

Softball

The Raiders’ softball squad will host a home game in the MIAA Div. 3 North Tournament. Coming in with a record of 12-8, Watertown earned the 12th seed and will host Winthrop at Hosmer Field in a preliminary round game on Friday at 4 p.m.
