A health center in California that provides services to women and families was dedicated to and named for a woman who grew up in Watertown.
With a collection of tens of thousands of historic post cards, Watertown’s Kathryn Alpert had a wealth of choices for her new book “Lost & Found: Historic Boston in Post Cards.” Watertown News spoke with Alpert about the creation of her book.
Watertown’s Director of Student Services will be stepping down before the beginning of school in September. The announcement came after parents of students in the special education program aired their complaints at the second straight School Committee meeting. A group of more than 100 parents also signed a petition requesting that the School Committee take a vote of no confidence for the Director of Student Services, who oversees the special education program.

With temperatures forecast to reach 100 degrees this week, the City of Watertown has compiled a list of places to keep cool during the heatwave.
The deaths by gunshot of three people on Boyd Street in Watertown are being investigated as a murder-suicide, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. The three were identified, and the DA’s office said the couple had a young child, who was not there at the time of the shootings.

Two suspects in a string of motor vehicle thefts and car break-ins have been identified by the Watertown Police, who warn residents to lock their vehicles and be vigilant.
The annual Dancing with the Stars moves to a new location in 2025, and the dancers will strut their stuff on the stage of the Mosesian Center for the Arts on Friday, Sept. 12.

Watertown High School’s field hockey team finished 2024 on a roll, and will begin the 2025 campaign looking for a fifth straight State Championship and to add to a winning streak that now stands at 97.
Neighbors of the home on Boyd Street where three people were found dead Sunday morning heard the sister of one of the victims screaming after she discovered the three bodies with gunshot wounds. They also said the home had been owned by the same family for many years.
Serj Tankian’s “Les Ocean Melodies” will be part of the exhibition at the Armenian Museum of America by the artist who is also well known as a rock musician.

The Armenian Museum of America recently announced its upcoming exhibition, “The Art of Disruption: The Art and Impact of Serj Tankian,” a groundbreaking biographical and multimedia showcase that explores the life, art, and activism of Serj Tankian–internationally renowned musician, visual artist, poet, and human rights advocate. The exhibition opens to the public on Sept. 6 and will run through Feb. 28, 2026.
