The entry lobby in City Hall is beginning to look like a room at the Museum of Fine Arts, with the addition of signs to accompany the recently restored historical paintings of Watertown.

A pair of Watertown wrestlers faced the Bay State’s best in the All-State Meet in Springfield on Sunday, and one picked up a milestone win.

The City of Watertown will give residents a break from the sidewalk snow shoveling rules after the blizzard of Jan. 22 and 23 dumped around 15 inches of snow on top of snow remaining from the storm in January. But the overnight parking ban — scheduled to end on Feb. 28 — will be in place until further notice. This winter’s storms have already sapped Watertown’s snow and ice fund for the winter, so the Council approved additional dollars to be spent on snow removal.

March 26, 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the deadly 9 alarm fire at 298 Beacon St, Boston that took the lives of two of Boston’s bravest, Boston Fire Lt. Edward J. Walsh Jr., who grew up in Watertown, and Boston Firefighter Michael R. Kennedy. Fenian Sons will be performing at the event.
Watertown voters can cast their votes in the Presidential Primary on Tuesday, March 5, but the ballot includes some local officials, too.

Recently during the deconstruction of the Watertown high school, I was made aware of a recent discovery or a better description, recovery of a WHS sports trophy. It was pulled out of a pile of debris being loaded onto a construction vehicle.

Watertown High School’s boys basketball team kept its cool down the stretch and defeated Shawsheen Tech 53-45 Saturday to advance to the Sweet 16 of the MIAA Div. 3 Tournament.
