Input Sought at Meeting on Improving the T’s 70/70A Buses

MBTA bus. The Watertown Transportation Task Force sent out the following information:

If you support improving this bus line, make your voice heard at the MBTA’s community meeting Tuesday, February 12, 6-8 pm, at the Watertown Free Public Library. The MBTA’s Better Bus Project has recently completed proposals for improvements in bus services.  Most important for Watertown riders is a long-awaited change in 70/70A service that should make the bus come on time and more often to those of us who ride it. Specifically they are proposing to de-couple the 70 from the 70A and increase the frequency of service down Main Street, Arsenal Street and all the way on to Cambridge.  The new route 70A would operate only between North Waltham and Waltham Center. Route 70 would run a little more often and with a more consistent schedule that will finally allow people to plan their commutes with confidence.

Find Out About the MBTA’s Plans to Improve the 70 Bus

Find out about measures being considered by the MBTA to improve service on the 70 bus line. The Watertown Public Transit Task Force will hold a public meeting Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at Watertown’s Arsenal Center for the Arts, 321 Arsenal St., in the 3rd floor Rehearsal Room. MBTA Service Planner Melissa Dullea will be on hand to give a presentation about some of the possible measures to improve service on the number 70 bus route. The WPTTF will unveil its Bus Incident Report Survey.

Study of 70 Bus Sought in Effort to Improve Transportation on Arsenal St.

A study of what can be done to speed up buses on the 70 and 70A bus routes has been requested by a group interested in improving public transportation on the Arsenal Street Corridor and beyond. A the transportation summit held Wednesday, elected officials, town officials, developers and members of groups interested in transit in the area met with MBTA officials. The group brainstormed ways to improve the service, which even T officials agreed can be slow and crowded. The area is one of the hottest areas of development in the Boston area. Developers of more than one project on the street have promised to contribute to a shuttle system to serve the area, but all agreed the MBTA service must be improved too.
