Police Log: Hit-and-Run Driver Arrested on OUI, Employee Caught Taking Money

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests
March 29, 4:45 p.m.: Police received a report of a hit-and-run accident on Common Street after a car struck a parked car on the hill section of the road. The vehicle was last seen heading southbound toward Watertown Square. It was located on Katherine Road and the officer spotted heavy front-end damage and fluids leaking from the car. During and interview, the officer detected an odor of alcohol on the breath of the driver, and conducted field sobriety tests.

Man Busted After Attempting to Take Bike Out from Under Cyclist

A Newton man faces criminal charges after he tried to grab the bicycle out from under a bicyclist riding down Pleasant Street just before midnight on March 31. 

Police were called to the area of Pleasant Street near Russo’s for a man wearing a mask, yelling and running in and out of traffic, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. A few minutes later an employee from Russo’s reported a man fitting the same description was in the store parking lot near the loading dock. “An officer located the person and was able to control the situation,” O’Connor said. He also spoke to a man who said the suspect attacked him. “The victim stated while he was riding his bicycle home on Pleasant Street the man jumped out in front of him and attempted to take his bicycle,” O’Connor said.

Watertown Man Arrested in Framingham When ‘Prank’ Goes Wrong

A Watertown man faces charges of burglary when he was caught with items from his friend’s Framingham apartment hanging out of his clothes. Bobby Martin, 28, of Watertown was arrested and charged with larceny over $250 on April 2. According to the MetroWest Daily News, Martin took $1,000s worth of jewelry, hats and a machete but was caught by his friend in the apartment building parking lot. Police Log: Drunken Driver Knocks Pole into Store Window, Small House Fire

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests
March 21, 4:40 p.m.: A man was stopped at Target after he was seen taking a number of items and hid them in his pants and his jacket. He had a total of $158.46. The 20-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of shoplifting over $100 by concealment. March 22, 9:16 p.m.: Watertown Police went to Edgecliff Road to serve a warrant from Waltham District Court for intimidating a witness, assault, threat to commit a crime and harassment.

Drug Task Force Investigation Results in Arrest on Narcotics Charges

A Roxbury man was busted on drug charges after being stopped in Watertown. The Suburban Middlesex Drug Task Force had been investigating the man for drug offenses. He was stopped on Arlington Street in Watertown on March 24 at about 4:15 p.m., said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Police arrested Johan Solis, 35, of Roxbury, on two counts of possession to distribute a Class B Drug. Solis’ vehicle was also confiscated, O’Connor said.

Police Log: Handyman Rips Off Customer, Shoplifter Tries to Climb Fence to Escape

March 19, 5 p.m.: Police had a warrant for a Watertown man and had information that he might be staying in the area of Cypress Street. When they were in the area, officers spotted the man coming out of a home on Spruce Street. The 29-year-old Watertown man was arrested on the warrant from Framingham District Court for driving with a suspended license, speeding and a passing violation. March 20, 2:20 p.m: Target security spotted a man cutting the security tag off a Beats Pill portable speaker.

Driver Loses Control, Damages Fence of Arsenal on the Charles

Watertown Police arrested a man who lost control while driving along Arsenal Street in the early hours of March 20 and damaged the iron fence of the Arsenal on the Charles. The man, identified as Rigoberto Zuniga, was involved in the one-car accident on at 4 a.m. on the 20th, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. “An officer responded to a motor vehicle accident Arsenal Street by School Street,” O’Connor said. “The vehicle struck the iron fence and took out three panels.” When police interviewed him, Zuniga said he did not have a Massachusetts driver’s license.
